Our vendors are as important to us as our employees. Nelson Container believes that a good vendor is not only reliable, but culturally a good fit. Our suppliers have as clear an understanding of our strategic goals and processes as we have of theirs. If our suppliers fail, so do we.

Following a process to select the best supplier is important.

• Assemble a Team for Vendor Selection and Implementation

  Make sure to include those who will be most affected by the potential vendor.

• Outline Your Goals

  They should be S.M.A.R.T. goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound). Document your organization’s existing and future expectations. You should to prioritize the categories of price, service and quality.

• Evaluate Vendors

  Websites, phone calls and references. Start by eliminating the obvious.
  The end result should bring you to 2 or 3 possible suppliers.

• Decision Making

  Review your requirements and the possible transition process. Make a decision and stick with it!
